Sports gear is bulky, often muddy and needed at short notice. A system that sorts it by child and by season stops the frantic search for the other shin pad.
One bag per child per activity
Each child gets a bag for each activity, with everything needed inside: kit, shin pads, water bottle, a spare hair tie. After practice, the bag is unpacked, kit goes to the wash and the bag goes back on its hook.
Store balls in open bins
Balls roll everywhere. Tall open bins or a hanging net keep them contained and visible. Label by type if you have many.
Use the walls
Hooks and wall racks for helmets, bats, rackets and scooters keep the floor clear. Garages and sheds benefit most from wall storage.
Keep the current season close
Only the gear for this season lives near the door. Out-of-season equipment goes into labeled tubs in the garage or loft, following the seasonal family gear system.
Add a cleaning step
Muddy boots and gear need somewhere to dry before storage: a boot tray and a hook outside or in the utility area.
Check sizes before the season starts
Children outgrow boots and helmets. A quick try-on before the season avoids a last-minute shop, and outgrown gear can go to a donation station or a sports club swap.
