Our cleaning schedule
Every day · about 15 minutes
- Dishes done or loaded, counters wiped
- Ten-minute pickup of the main living space
- One load of laundry moving
Kids’ jobs: put their own things away, match socks, wipe the table, empty small bins.
One zone a day · about 20 minutes
- Monday: Kitchen: wipe cupboard fronts, clean the sink and hob, mop the floor
- Tuesday: Bathrooms: toilet, sink, shower or bath, mirror and floor
- Wednesday: Living areas: dust surfaces, vacuum under cushions, tidy shelves
- Thursday: Bedrooms: change sheets, dust, vacuum and clear surfaces
- Friday: Floors: vacuum and mop the main rooms
- Saturday: Laundry: wash towels and bedding, clean the machine seal
Sunday is a rest day, or the day for anything that slipped.
Monthly · pick one a week
- Wipe light switches and door handles
- Clean the microwave and the fridge shelves
- Wash cushion covers or throws
- Dust high shelves and the tops of cupboards
- Vacuum under beds and sofas
- Descale the kettle and clean the toaster crumb tray
- Wash the kitchen bins
- Wipe skirting boards in one room
